2014 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 05-12-2018
The 2014 Dunn Howell shows excellent purity and intensity. The 2014 showcases the wild Howell mountain Cabernet character with black and blue fruit, wild herbs, lavender, and graphite. The tannins are rounder and more textural than the traditional ‘vin de garde’ style of Dunn. Mike Dunn’s hard work in the vineyards, production, and cellar is impressive and Dunn remains one of my favorite CA Cabernets over the decades. Bravo!

2014 Domaine Marc Colin St-Aubin 1er Cru "La Chateniere"
Review Date: 07-29-2016
The Domaine Marc Colin white burgundies are consistently one of Burgundy’s best values. The wines are very precise with superb definition. The estate is now run by Marc’s children Damien, Joseph, and Caroline. Marc’s eldest son Pierre-Yves split off with his holdings to start the impressive Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin Morey in 2005. The 2014 “La Chateniere” starts with a concentrated wave of pure White Burgundy fruit full of white peach, lemon curd, citrus, and mineral. The fruit here is richer than the more racy and stony “Le Charmois”. Finishes with excellent depth, concentration, and minerality. Serious quality for the money here.

2015 Vieux-Château-Certan, Pomerol (1.5L)
Review Date: 07-13-2016
**One of the wines of the vintage** Perfumed and very fine with rich black fruits, graphite, liquid minerals, and cocoa powder. Exotic mouthfeel and weight (14.6% alcohol) yet completely in balance. Cashmere from the Cabernet Franc with power from the Merlot. On the palate, this is absolutely seamless, long, and pure. Extraordinary.
