1975 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

91 points Decanter: "Jean-Michel Cazes’ third vintage, and his records of the harvest note excellent weather conditions almost every day up in Pauillac. Harvest of Merlot began at Lynch Bages on September 25 (it had been expected to start on the 29th until the rains fell) and lasted until October 12th ( a Sunday when Cazes described the fermentations as going ‘very very well’). Only one or two vats needed chaptilisation because natural sugar levels were so high. On the nose, a touch of band aid suggests brett, but this soon clears and the wine is full of ...

1975 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (mid-shoulder fill, bin soiled label, depressed cork)

95 points James Suckling: "I absolutely love the nose of licorice, minerals, black currants, and berries. Full and slightly hard and acidic, but I could smell it all night. It softens and turns velvety and dusty on the finish with lots of fruit." (03/2012) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the blind tasting in December, this wine finally began to reveal some potential. It has been closed and frightfully tannic for the last decade. The wine exhibits a good dark ruby/garnet color, a sweet nose of cedar, chocolate, cassis, and spices, good ripe ...

1975 Climens, Barsac

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Climens has a glorious bouquet with beautifully defined citrus fruit, wild honey, orange blossom and just a touch of old antique furniture. It blossoms in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a killer line of acidity. This is still fresh and tense with marmalade, grapefruit, mandarin, bitter orange and brown spices. It feels long and tender in the mouth: quite a powerful Climens at its peak. (NM)" (06/2015) Jancis Robinson: "High-botrytis vintage, low yields (7.2 hl/ha). TA 4.5 g/l (sulphuri ...

1975 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien

93 points Vinous: "The 1975 Ducru Beaucaillou is a vintage that I had not encountered for 15 years but my God, what a wonderful wine! Surely the best between 1970 and 1982, the 1975 is beautifully balanced with ample fruit on the quite precocious nose that is more akin to a 1982 or 1985. Certainly unlike some of its more esteemed counterparts, this 1975 shows no signs of drying out or hard tannins, one of the best I have encountered for some time. (NM)" (05/2018) 90 points Decanter: "Good nose, lovely clean fruit; an excellent wine that is holding up ...

1975 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This massive, backward wine appears to resist aging. Still bitterly tannic, impressively-colored (dark garnet with no amber), and monstrous on the palate, this wine will either turn out like the outstanding 1928 and begin to reveal some charm and character around age 40, or it will dry out, much like the 1948. It needs another 5-10 years of cellaring... It is likely to be appreciated only by the most patient Bordeaux enthusiasts. I would not be surprised to see some wine writer touting its greatness around 2025, long after most of it had been consumed and found to be pleasureless. Owners should try not to touch a bottle before 2005. Drink through 2025. (RP)" (02/1996)

1975 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. From the producer's website: "Stag's Leap Wine Cellars was known only in the Napa Valley until the now-famous 1976 Paris Tasting, when Winiarski's 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon, the first wine produced at the new winery, bested four top-ranked Bordeaux entries, including first-growths Château Mouton-Rothschild and Château Haut-Brion. The tasting landed Stag's Leap Wine Cellars squarely among the ranks of the world's most noteworthy Cabernet producers and placed Winiarski among the ranks of world's most respected winemakers. It also fundamentally transformed how Californian wines were viewed worldwide."
