2011 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (98RP, 94WS, 93VN, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Syrah Armada Vineyard is spectacular, and one of the highlights of this tasting, bursting from the glass with aromas of dark chocolate, smoked duck, blackberries, licorice, cassis, burning embers, tapenade and cracked black pepper. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and mouthwateringly savory, with cool fruit tones, a lovely underlying line of acidity and plenty of youthful energy, concluding with a refined but gently tannic finish. The product of a cool vintage that many dismissed, Baron dropped 80% of his fruit and did a 20% saigné to produce this compelling wine that screams Syrah and Walla Walla—but also more than nods to the Northern Rhône. 1989 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (98DC, 96WS). Decanter: "1989 was an early year, with flowering three weeks ahead of usual. Now at 30 years old, a floral aspect curls out of the glass, with touches of roses and peonies, followed on the palate by bilberries and blackberries, with a cigar smoke and eucalyptus finish. It's still vigorous in its tannic structure, but it's soft and supple enough to enjoy today. This bottle was recorked by hand at the winery last year, with five people checking every single one of the 5,000 bottles remaining at the chateau. The wines were topped up from magnums of the 1989. 3% Petit Verdot completes the blend - a variety not used in the grand vin since 1996. (JA)" (11/2018)

2000 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah (94WE, 92RP, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Shafer’s annual contribution to the Rhône gene pool is one incredible Syrah. It is inky black in color, due perhaps to some added Petite Sirah, with, yes, relentless aromas of blackberries, cassis, mocha, toast and vanilla. Doesn’t let you down once you sip, when it floods the mouth with dense berry-cherry flavors that, for all their lusciousness, are bone dry. On the finish, you can taste blackberry nectar for a full minute. *Editors' Choice*" (12/2003)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Andremily "No. 5" Santa Barbara County Syrah ((98-100JD), 97RP, 95VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "Not yet bottled, the 2016 No. 5 is a similar blend and is 91% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 3% Viognier that will see just under two years in 70% new French oak. It offers slightly more stem characteristics with a La Mouline-like perfume of bacon fat, pepper, blackberries, earth, and chocolate. Deep, full-bodied, opulent and hedonistic, yet pure, elegant and structured, it's unquestionably another brilliant wine from Jim." (10/2018)

Bid on this magnum of 2002 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP, 94DC, 93VN, 92CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In 2002 very small yields produced only about 3,000 cases at 14.7% natural alcohol and a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. This wine is going from strength to strength since I first tasted it prior to bottling. Now a perfect wine, the incredible perfume of blueberries, black raspberries and cassis, along with white flowers and camphor is extraordinarily fragrant and intense. That is easily matched by the magnificent full-bodied richness and compellingly layered mouthfeel of this wine that is rich, full-bodied and a still youthful vintage that remains capable of another 25-30 years of cellaring. This is a dramatic vintage for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and it is always fascinating to taste a top winery’s 2001 and 2002 next to each other because they are both such great years. However, the 2002s tend to be the more flam

Vinous: "Schrader's 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon RBS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is pure silk on the palate. The aromas, flavors and textures are incredibly refined and lifted. A soft, seamless wine that stands out for its gorgeous balance, the 2011 is showing beautifully today. Freshly cut flowers, mint and red berries all flow through to the impeccably refined finish. It is fascinating to taste the RBS next to Las Piedras. Both wines are Clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon, but here we are in To Kalon, where the flavors seem to have a little more definition. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The medium to full-bodied, dark ruby/plum-colored 2010 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge displays the blue fruit spectrum along with some raspberries, fresh mushrooms and spring flowers, a layered mouthfeel, more minerality than the explosive 2009 exhibited, outstanding ripeness and lots of personality. This is clearly a grand cru site owned by the Martinellis. This 2010 should drink well for 5-7 years. (RP)" (12/2013)

2000 Fonseca Vintage Port
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Fonseca Vintage Port (96RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Fonseca continues to exude finesse and focus on the nose, with pure blackberry, juniper berries, licorice and a touch of sloes, perhaps as Adrian Bridge remarked, just beginning to close after ten years in bottle. The palate is underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. The harmony and symmetry is alluring, the finish precise and demonstrating the persistency to suggest a long future ahead. Drink 2020-2060. (NM)" (02/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97W&S, 96VN, 95ST, 93CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Monte Bello is beginning to drink very well indeed, revealing complex aromas of sweet currant fruit, rich soil, cedar cigar box and sweet spices. With time in the glass, nuances of dark chocolate and loamy soil emerge too. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with fine-grained structuring tannins, the first signs of emerging savory nuance and a bright, beautifully focused finish. As it approaches age 13, the 2005 is still very youthful—indeed, this particular bottle was more reserved and taut than the last four or five that I've encountered—so there's certainly no rush to drink it. Cropped at just under one ton per acre, the 2005 is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc that attained 13.4% natural alcohol. (WK)" (05/2018)

Vinous: "Weightless and gracious on the palate, the Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea is laced with raspberries, crushed flowers, mint and anise, all in a pointed, mid-weight style that is undeniably appealing. The lifted aromatics and beautifully articulated finish impart a sense of freshness that is quite appealing. From barrel, the Ostrea, which emerges from pre World War II parcels in Brochon, was quite a bit deeper. It will be interesting to see if that fruit re-emerges with more time in bottle (AG)" (03/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2013 Christopher Tynan Wines "Meleagris Gallopavo Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JD, 100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even for someone who has been doing this for thirty-eight years, there are times when you taste something that sort of breaks through all preconceived notions and reference points. I knew Christopher Tynan as a winemaker for Cliff Lede, but this is his wine, and it is outrageously spectacular and incredibly singular and special. The wine is extraordinary. Of course, it comes from a great vintage for Bordeaux varieties in Napa – 2013. This is a killer effort. A singular, profound and majestic Cabernet Sauvignon from what is called old vines, which can mean anything from 25 to 125 years old. I’m trying to figure out what this wine reminds me of – is it a Chateau Latour in a great vintage such as 1982, 1961? Is it a 1986 Mouton Rothschild? Is it a 1978 Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill? Is it a 1969 Chappellet? Or? Inky bluish/black/pur

There are only 140 cases of this beauty, which was cropped at just over a ton of fruit per acre. It offers up notes of bouquet garni, roasted meats, black raspberries, black currants, strawberries and cherries. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100JD, 100JS, 100RP, 98VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the very deep purple-black colored 2015 Screaming Eagle leaps from the glass with notes of freshly crushed black currants, black cherries and blackberries with suggestions of cigar box, black raspberries, red currants, chocolates, pencil lead and cast-iron pan plus a touch of potpourri. Medium to full-bodied with a rock-solid backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, it features the most incredible black and red fruit layers and finishes with incredible vibrancy and depth. 1997 Beaulieu Vineyard "Centennial Release" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1997 Beaulieu Vineyard "Centennial Release" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded by Georges de Latour, Beaulieu Vineyard has built a name for itself by producing world-class Cabernet from the renowned Rutherford region that inspired the name "beau lieu," or "beautiful place. Named wine of the week in the Baltimore Sun: "... B. V. can still rise to a special occasion, as it shows with this 100th anniversary bottling of Cabernet - the grape to which it owes its renown. This is a rich, classic, stylish Napa Valley Cabernet - accessible but structured, full-bodied but not overstuffed. It's an elegant wine with hints of black currant, smoked meat and black cherry. It isn't inexpensive as red wines go, but for a complex, well-made Napa Valley Cabernet, it's downright reasonable." (07/2000)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Pharaohmoans "WestSide" Paso Robles Red Blend (93ST, 93VN, 90WS). Vinous: "Inky purple. Complex aromas of blackberry, incense, smoky minerals and Indian spices. Displays an array of black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors that show unlikely energy for the wine's depth and power. Picks up allspice and anise nuances with air, along with a suggestion of vanilla. Finishes with superb smoky persistence, with smooth tannins making a late appearance. (JR)" (09/2015)

2013 Quivet "Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Quivet "Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95JS, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A real killer effort is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard. This shows nice, gravelly, earthy notes intermixed with a floral component, blackberry and blueberry, a sensationally saturated purple color and fabulous opulence and richness. Once again, this is a great effort and a pretty fair price point for a Beckstoffer Vineyard-sourced wine. This should drink well for 15-20 years. (RP)" (12/2015)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 1993 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (95RP, 93VN, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain reveals an opaque black color, huge tannin, terrific purity, and density, a broad, heavyweight mouthfeel, and gobs of ripe tannin. It is a massive Cabernet Sauvignon that requires a decade of cellaring - at the minimum. (RP)" (12/1996)

2003 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (96RP, 94WE, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More sweet, ripe and up-front, with a downright sexy profile, the 2003 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock checks in as a blend of 88% Syrah, 8% Grenache and 4% Mourvedre. From a hot vintage and a time when producers were pushing on the ripeness scale, this blockbuster pulls it off in style and offers up loads of sweet blackberry and kirsch fruit, dried flowers, incense, garrigue and licorice-like aromas and flavors. Showing tons of sweet fruit on the palate, with full-bodied richness and depth, sweet tannin and a great finish, it’s made in an unabashedly pedal-to-the-metal style that won’t appeal to everyone, but I’m a fan. It should continue to put a smile on everyone’s face for another 3-5 years. (JD)" (07/2014)

2017 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2017 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Producer's notes: "The vineyards we source from lie in both the southern portion of the appellation and in the northern true coastal zone. In the southern area, the Petaluma Wind Gap and the San Pablo Bay drive cooler temperatures and provide us with deep flavors and richly textured wines. The vineyards from the coastal reaches contribute more of the savory and spice characteristics that we love as well as great structure and poise. In our second year working with the fruit, Marshall Ranch, in Sebastopol, again proved to be an excellent cornerstone for our Sonoma Coast blend, offering vibrant fruit, crisp color and racy, grounded acidity. Nose: Forest floor, with blackberry, Bing cherry and bramble fruits. A hint of Rosemary. Mouth: Thoughtful and focused. Intense dark fruits with notes of blackberry and blueberry."

1971 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche
Bid on this bottle of 1971 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche (95BH, 90RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Classic and very ripe mature burg fruit intermingles with a wonderful array of spices, especially anise and soy all of which are framed by a touch of caramel. The flavors are extremely rich, sweet and wonderfully concentrated with a deep, very sweet essence of pinot finish that still retains glimpses of its former power. The tannins are fully resolved and the finish is nothing but pure silk and velvet. Tasted many times and while there is some bottle variation, well-stored bottles are consistently marvelous." 1999 Hanzell Sonoma Valley Chardonnay
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1999 Hanzell Sonoma Valley Chardonnay (90RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 1999 Chardonnay, no shy wine at 14.5% alcohol, plays it close to the vest in aromatics and flavors ... at least for now. Citrus and mineral notes are displayed in a crisp, full style. It is high in acidity, yet intense, with a striking minerality atypical for most California Chardonnays. Exceptional precision makes it a wine to cellar for a few years, and drink over the following decade. (RP)" (06/2002)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Peter Michael "Cuvée Indigène" Knights Valley Chardonnay (95ST, 94RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Greenish gold. Pungent aromas of dried pear, lemon pith, saffron and smoky lees, with slow-building minerality and a touch of peat. Densely packed but energetic, offering lively orchard and citrus fruit flavors and an exotic floral quality. The peaty note resonates strongly on the finish, which hangs on with impressive tenacity. 2001 Calera "Reed Vineyard" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Calera "Reed Vineyard" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tasted four 2001 Calera Pinot Noirs, including the 2001 Pinot Noir Reed Vineyard (a 4.4 acre parcel) whose light ruby color could cause it to be mistaken for a rose. Notions of sassafras, earth, kirsch liqueur, and spice emerge from this delicate, but authoritatively flavorful, medium-bodied, spicy Pinot. Reminiscent of a premier cru from the Cotes de Beaune, it should be consumed over the next 7-8 years. (RP)" (08/2005)

2001 Lucien Le Moine Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Lucien Le Moine Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers". This has an absolutely lovely nose and classic character. This is made from 90 year old vines, and there is little doubt about that when you taste it. The pure, old-vine concentration is remarkable. The aromatics promise and the wine delivers. Red fruits, toasty oak, griottes, floral and lovely. Supple and integrated on the palate, plush and lovely. There is lots to like here. My notes were accompanied by a marginal note saying simply: "WOW". (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer) Steve Tanzer gives it 90-92 Points saying: "($76) Medium red. Sappy, liqueur-like aromas of raspberry, smoke and game. Creamy-sweet and lush in the mouth, with superripe kirsch and oak flavors and a seamless texture. But this also features sound, harmonious acidity. Finishes with firm tannins and subtle, sappy persistence." (International Wine Cellar, 04/03)
