2016 Greywacke Pinot Noir Marlborough

SKU #1413584 95 points James Suckling

Impressive richness and concentration of brambleberry and black-cherry aromas and flavors here. The palate unfurls plenty of spicy and succulent fruit flesh with tannins that are nicely wrapped around the finish. This is all class. Drink or hold. *No. 33 Top 100 Wines of New Zealand, 2018* (12/2018)

94 points Bob Campbell

Pleasingly aromatic pinot noir with red cherry, plum, violet, anise and a subtle grape stem flavour. A taut, vibrant, high energy pinot noir that is approachable now but promises to get more interesting with bottle development (6/2019)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A bit less intense than the 2015, the 2016 Pinot Noir is nevertheless a lovely drink. A blend of fruit from primarily the Brancott and Omaka Valleys, it shows earthy, dark-fruited notes of black cherries and plums. It's medium to full-bodied, plush and velvety on the palate, with a long, vibrant finish. (JC) (3/2019)

This is a seriously impressive display of the finesse, power and complexity that can be achieved with New Zealand Pinot Noir. The nose is beautiful with fruity aromas of cherry and mulberry with lifted aromatics of lilacs and violets with a touch of smoke and earth. The palate is well balanced, with beautiful tension between the silky texture, ripe but grippy tannins and vibrant lifting acidity.

What a lovely wine this Greywacke Pinot Noir is! The nose offers up a wonderful spice cabinet of nutmeg and clove and maybe a touch of cinnamon?? The palate is a luscious fruit wonderland of raspberry and strawberry but more on the savory spectrum. This wine is a definite winner to bring around to impress your friends or pair by yourself to your favorite Romantic Comedy! I'm thinking The Devil Wears Prada...

Another outstanding wine from Kevin Judd. The nose here is dark, smokey, and full of black fruits that remind me of other cool climate Pinot Noir regions. On the palate, this wine is an absolute powerhouse of fruit and texture. With mouthcoating weight and searing intensity, it is exceptionally structured, delivering powerful fruit with tannins that start soft and punch right through at the finish. An unbelievable value at this price.
