Josh Raynolds writes: "I continue to be highly impressed with the work being done here by winemaker Damien Brisset, who, along with the entire Ferraton team, has the unenviable task of operating in the shadow of owner, Maison Chapoutier, and its indefatigable leader, Michel Chapoutier. Despite the status of Chapoutier here, operations are self-directed and the wines show a different style than those produced at Chapoutier. They display plenty of depth and power, to be sure, but the overriding trait of this set of wines is energy rather than richness. The Ferraton wines don’t seem to get the attention they deserve, which makes them relatively easy to track down in some markets, for now. There’s a new, casual restaurant on the Ferraton premises in Tain l’Hermitage, which sits right on the bank of the river and offers a tight, appealing menu of excellent snacks and dishes for great prices. Of course there’s plenty of wine on offer, too."

Ferraton is really over delivering in the QPR right now. This wonderful white is pure white peach, lilies and wet stones. Lovely texture, clean and fresh nose, I can think of fewer whites that would make such a great aperitif. Also great with creamier richer dishes as this has just the right amount of acidity to cut through it.
