2017 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Meursault

SKU #1448749 93 points Wine Spectator

Fresh and elegant, this white delivers peach, lemon cake, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Harmonious and ready to enjoy, but should develop well. Drink now through 2025. (7/2019)

92 points James Suckling

Some attractive, youthful complexity here with a very flinty, stony edge to the grapefruit and young peaches. The palate has a very succulent feel with a creamy layer at the finish. Drink or hold. (1/2019)

The 2017 Meursault AC is quite a classic example of the vintage, offering up plenty of depth and terroir in a forward and already very tasty format. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of apple, passion fruit, hazelnut, chalky soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and quite suave on the attack, with a juicy core, sound framing acids and lovely length and bounce on the wide open and delicious finish. A fine villages. Bottled in early October. (Drink between 2018-2035) (12/2018)

90 points Vinous

The 2017 Meursault Village, which was bottled in October 2018, offers attractive scents of brioche, dried honey and orange blossom that seem to gain intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced, displaying a fine bead of acidity and light orange pith, apricot and quince notes. The satisfying, fresh finish leaves a touch of ginger on the aftertaste. Very fine.(NM) (1/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Aromas of pastry cream, crisp pear and lemon curd introduce the 2017 Meursault Village, a medium-bodied, elegantly textural wine with good concentration and depth, underpinned by tangy acids.(WK) (1/2019)

K&L Notes

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Clear and pale, with a softly oaked rounded style of fruit on the nose, the start of buttery notes on the palate but kept fresh by a pinpoint of acidity. Medium length, half in 500l barrels to avoid over-oaking. Tasted: November 2018."

As much as I love the reds from Drouhin, I think that in 2017 they’ve been outclassed by the whites. We’ve spoken at length about the quality of the 2017 vintage for whites, and when you taste what Drouhin has accomplished in their village-level offerings from Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny-Montrachet, you will be amazed. The 2017 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Meursault is a critic favorite and a full-bodied offering that displays citrus, stone, and creamy oak flavors. A richly textured wine, it has all the marks of a fine Meursault, and a great finish.
